Ko Te Aroha te maunga

Aroha ki uta, Aroha ki tai

Ko Waihou te awa

Ko Tikapa te moana

Ko Tainui te waka

Ko Hauraki te whenua

Ko Ngāti Rāhiri Tumutumu te iwi

Ko Tumutumu te marae

Ko Tama-a-Ariki te whare tupuna

Ko Te Puna o te Ora te whare kai

No Te Aroha ahau

No te whānau Paenganui raua ko Pepene ahau

I grew up in the rural farming community of Te Aroha, nestled beneath the majestic beauty of our sacred maunga, Te Aroha.  On my Father's side I am of Ukrainian, Canadian, Austrian descent.  On my Mother's side I am of Māori descent.  I was raised in a Māori community.

My maternal great grandfather, Edward Terekia Paenganui Abraham was of Ngāti Whatua, from Reweti and Otamatea.  My maternal great great grandfather, Aihe Pepene, was of Ngāti Haua and Ngāti Rāhiri Tumutumu descent.   My grandfather, Matiu Taupaki, was of Ngāti Hako, from Tirohia.  My great grandfather was Te Mamaru Taupaki, a descendant of the Taupaki whānau from Ahipara.  His wife, my great grandmother, was a Kahui from Ngāti Maniapoto.

Over the past 30 years I have developed a solid foundation of knowledge, skills, abilities and experience that enable me to operate as a highly competent and professional businesswoman.  My ethical framework is social responsibility.  I believe each of us has an obligation to act for the benefit of society at large - it is our duty as individuals to contribute to the wellbeing of our community.

My social responsibility lies within the justice sector.  My duty is to work with offenders to gather and report information about their personal, family, whānau, community and cultural background for better sentencing outcomes and social impact.

You can find out more about me on my social media pages.
